Before studying medicine I spent 5 years in college and graduate school studying history, with a special interest on the history of ideas. I'm sure that this background has impacted on the way that I have approached health care and the practice of medicine.

Jerry taught elementary school, special education, became a school counselor, and then a registered play therapist, then a play therapist supervisor. Play is how children talk and registered play therapists are trained (graduate level courses and 550 hours of supervised training) to give language to that play. She is convinced, as am I, that the majority of problems in our society and the world come from early childhood trauma, or from faulty practices of well meaning parents and care givers. From these pages you should be able to see our dual interests: in what works, and in getting at the root of problems.
